Boots Flagship Store

Boots is a British health and beauty retailer and pharmacy chain that operates in the United Kingdom. They have been a high street name for over 175 years and are the UK's leading health and beauty retailer.

Boots approached Lightwave to design and manufacture a lighting system for their brand new flagship store based on their conceptual idea of a 'floating blue blade'. They were looking for a free-floating luminaire that would glow blue and illuminate the expansive glass storefront.

This effect was achieved by backlighting large sheets of opaque acrylic affixed to aluminium PCB boards populated with colour-change LEDs. The final effect was so impressive that the store won RetailWeek's Interiors Award in 2012.
